Job description
OBJECTIVES/SCOPE
To Lead a group of Electrical/Electronic Engineers. Assume technical responsibility for the design and implementation of hardware solutions for work packages as required. To carry out maintenance and investigation activities at Aberdeen or offshore/offsite as required. Allocate work to sub-ordinates. Supervise workscope performance to maintain quality and budgetary levels and improve On Time Delivery. Assistance in producing quotations for Fixed Price workscopes. Ensure compliance with company HSE processes and procedures for all work being carried out in workshop/lab areas.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
•Enhance the abilities of the groups Electrical/Electronic Engineers to ensure an excellent level of service to all of the groups’ customers.
•Provide first point Electrical/Electronic engineering support to all group engineers.
•Ensure Electrical/Electronic team is able to provide first point engineering support to ASL personnel in the field.
•Manage groups test equipment/workshop/lab.
•Liaise with Leads to raise quotes for workscopes/variations as and when requested by Projects and Service.
•Approve quotes raised by Senior Engineers
•Ensure ASL ability to support the Hardware of delivered Control Systems.
•Provide Hardware support to Projects, Products, SLS and Manufacturing.
•Produce technical investigations and reports.
•Ensure project workscopes are produced within budget and timescale.
•Monitor allocated workscopes and report current status, estimate to complete and resource requirements to functional Project Manager/Project Engineer.
•Mark up drawings and documents and expedite through to release.
•Assist with estimates of effort and best technical solution at bid stage.
•Demonstrate commitment to Operating System Procedures and the processes of continuous improvement.
•Ensure all work activities are in accordance with company procedures.
•Identifying processes and patterns of work areas and recommending procedures to improve standardisation and consistency of approach to SEDS Manager.
•Monitoring trends and new products in the marketplace, which could benefit the company, and recommending to SEDS Manager.
In addition to the duties listed, the jobholder is required to perform other duties assigned by his/her Manager/lead Engineer from time to time.
COMPETENCE REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential Requirements:
•Degree qualified in an Electrical/Electronic discipline or HNC/HND with relevant industry experience
COMPETENCIES
Essential Requirements:
•Knowledge of Network Systems
•Knowledge of Windows Operating Systems.
•Relevant, demonstrable Subsea industry experience.
•Experience in all aspects of project lifecycle from start-up to completion.
•Ability to communicate with engineers/clients at all levels.
•Proven ability in estimating, planning and resourcing projects effectively to ensure they are delivered on time and within budget.
•Ability to mentor junior/graduate engineers.
Desirable:
•Knowledge of Network Specifications
•Knowledge of Real-Time Control Systems.
•Knowledge of PLC/SCADA Control Systems.
•Knowledge of SAP.
•Knowledge and experience of AutoCAD.
•Experience in working to ISO9001 quality standards.
•IT Desktop packages such as word processors, spreadsheets, databases.
•Experience in working to IPC 610.
•Experience in SIL Systems to IEC 61508.
