We are looking for a Senior Design Engineer within our Telecommunications and Power Transmission operation, based in Cheam. The main purpose of the role is to assist in the completion of design and innovation projects, produce effective design solutions and provide technical support to Networks Division’s Overhead Line Engineers, Project Engineers, Site Engineers, and clients.
Key Tasks include: •Manage day to day overhead line design activities. •Liaise with the Development and Innovation teams and provide effective design solutions to innovation projects. •Develop specific design processes, policy and training manuals. •Liaise regularly with other Engineers and Technicians to maximise productivity. •Review, develop, encourage and train engineering staff. •Assist in the provision of technical advice and support our personnel and clients. •Review resource levels regularly, reporting deficiencies and possible solutions to the Project Design Manager. •Assist with the development of external design resources and utilise wherever required. •Continually assess and review contract programme within the Design and Innovation teams. •Liaise with clients to provide input and scope for new standards and codes of practice.

| Qualifications & Experience Requirements |
Applicants must demonstrate the following:
Qualifications and Experience: •BEng (Hons) or BSc (Hons) in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering or HND with relevant experience. •Previous relevant experience in a Transmission Design office. •Ideally you will be a Chartered member of the IStructE or ICE, or working towards.
Skills and Knowledge Required: •Project management, people management and team building skills. •Detailed knowledge of Overhead Line design and current design specifications. •Appreciation of mechanical design and systems, geotechnical data and specialist foundations. •Knowledge of Transmission Line Design principles, and software such as PLS CADD. •Ideally an appreciation of modelling software such as MS-Tower, PLS Tower, ROBOT or STAAD Pro. •Ideally a knowledge of Foundation Design and Wind and Steel codes BS8100, BS5950, BS449, CP3 and equivalent European codes, and Transmission Line Design codes such as BS50341, BS50423, ENA-TS 43-125, ENAT-TS 43-8.
