Description

Based at RSME Minley, in Surrey; we wish to appoint Vehicle Mechanics for two permanent and one 12 month fixed term contract. Reporting to the Team Leader, the key accountabilities of the job holder(s) will be:

 

  • To carry out the maintenance, mechanical/electrical repairs and modification of the wide range of military wheeled vehicles
  • Be a Royal Engineer specialist to role equipment held at RSME, Minley.
  • Carry out all repairs adhering to current VOSA and MOD standards.
  • Carry out all repair activities in compliance with the Health & Safety policy.
  • Others duties will include; requisitioning of vehicle spares and the use of an IT system to upgrade repair progress and productive hours.

Successful applications may be required to work away from home for short periods of time to provide maintainence and repair support to exercising troops on MOD training areas.

 

There will be a requirement to be part of a Workshop rota to provide out of hours recorvery/repair suppport to Military training activities.

 

An individual toolkit, Personal Protective Equipment (Corporate Clothing) and specialist stores support will be provided.

Qualifications & Experience Requirements

Applicants must be able to demonstrate the following:

 

Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:

 

  • Have a recognised apprenticeship in Automotive Engineering or Service as an Armed Forces Vehicle Mechanic Class 1
  • Have a recognised apprenticeship in Motor Vehicle Mechanics and Technicians work, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
  • Hold a City & Guilds Level 1, 2 or NVQ Level 3 in Automotive Engineering, essential
  • Full Category B driving licence, essential
  • Have attended Manufacturer automotive courses, desirable
  • Have attended MOD approved equipment repair courses and/or Civilian Vehicle Inspectors course, desirable
  • Hold Category 'C' or 'C + E' driving licence(s), desirable
