Job Title: Intermediate Plant Inspector

We are currently looking to fill the role of a Intermediate Plant Inspector to join our Asset Integrity team.

Duties include:

  • Provide inspection support for projects as assigned (turnarounds, minor outages, shutdowns, construction projects, pressure equipment inspections, etc)
  • Independently completes field inspection and performs data evaluation under the guidance of more senior API inspectors.
  • Identifies risks through daily inspections and provides recommendations for follow-up actions (subsequent inspection or repairs). May include development of routine and repetitive inspection plans.
  • On-call rotation responsibilities. First point of contact for all pressure retaining concerns 24/7
  • Has a working knowledge of applicable jurisdictional and Irving Oil Procedures and Specifications. Developing a solid understanding and sharing knowledge with more junior employees (inspectors, engineers and maintenance personnel)
  • Accurately maintains inspection records and data bases
  • Mentor Jr. Inspectors as required
  • Assumes supervision of contracted mechanical NDE technicians.
  • Participates in Area Team activities representing the Asset Integrity group
  • Supports and makes practical suggestions for improving work processes.
  • Works with team/group to resolve inspection issues
  • Prepares Inspection reports for review, prior to distribution by a Senior API inspector
  • Field visits required in all weather conditions
  • High elevation climbing and confined space entry work required periodically
  • May be required to assume area lead responsibilities
  • Post secondary education. Must have industry/trade related training outside secondary education.
  • 3-10 years experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills both oral and written. Ability to work well within a team environment
  • API 510 or API 570 certification required
  • Has knowledge or certification in some or all of the following: CWB, Thermography, API, CGSB, National Board, Nace etc.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
