As part of the Canadian Construction and Maintenance team, the Construction & Maintenance Specialist assists and manages various project based requests from the Project Managers.  Being a self-starter and independent worker, as well as having the ability to work as a member of a team will enable the right candidate to deliver successful assignments.  The role is responsible for primarily proving administrative assistance to field personnel, with occasional in-field support as needed.


  • Dispatch - general responsibility for receiving, recording, and relaying work orders to appropriate maintenance vendors.  Update records of all dispatched cases (electronic or hard copy as required).
  • Identify and resolve potential maintenance issues before they result in major repair problems.
  • Assists the Facilities Construction Project Manager to perform tasks needed to coordinate multi-site projects and preventative maintenance programs through existing vendors and benchmark their performance.  Processing and coding of purchase requisitions and invoices, and new vendor setup.
  • Administers purchase orders and change orders.
  • Maintain project files and payment applications.
  • Prepare and track construction requests for information (RFI).
  • Record and distribute meeting minutes.
  • Assist and monitor the construction bidding process.
  • Write reports and presentations.
  • Archieve, retrieve, and update information about company assets.
  • Track spending and budgets for the department.
  • Coordinate activities with service providers and vendors as needed.
  • Contribute to overall effectiveness of the department by performing other duties as required.
  • High school diploma required.  Secondary education preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and French.  Both oral and written are preferred.
  • Construction or Petroleum background preferred.
  • Customer service experience beneficial.
  • Some knowledge of dispatching methods, techniques, and practices.
  • Some knowledge of building maintenance needs and service requirements.
  • Some knowledge of the practices, methods, materials, and equipment of the building trades.
  • Able to read and understand building plans, contracts, regulations, and specifications.
  • Ability to analyze situations promptly and to determine proper course of action.
  • Must have strong computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, Powerpoint).  Oracle experience an asset.
