Job Title: Environment, Health & Safety Coordinator, Atlantic Canada

Irving Energy is on a journey to become the industry leader in injury prevention, and leak prevention/leak management. We are seeking a dynamic individual to serve as the Environment, Health & Safety Coordinator for Atlantic Canada. This position will support our objectives by providing EHS guidance, training and support to ensure our business provides consistent, safe and reliable delivery and service to our customers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working with the EHS Manager for Atlantic Canada, ensure compliance with provincial and federal regulations, including those in safety, environmental and transportation.
  • Develop, coordinate and conduct safety training across the company.
  • Lead and develop specific safety and compliance programs including change plans in collaboration with the EHS team.
  • Conduct workplace inspections , audits and employee safety observations as needed.
  • Assist with on-going training and development for safety committee members.
  • Assist Operation Managers in conducting incident investigations.
  • Identify areas of concern and non-compliance and work with operations to address them.
  • Assist EHS Manager with safety & environmental audits.
  • Respond as needed to emergencies.

This position will be based at an Irving Energy office in Atlantic Canada (Saint John, Halifax, or Moncton).  The position does require extensive travel (up to 50% of the time) throughout New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland (St. John's area), along with occasional travel to US.  Candidate must have or be able to obtain a valid passport.

 

Requirements:
  • Post-Secondary degree/certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or a related discipline and /or 2-4 years of experience in a safety position with additional safety training.
  • Experience in the energy industry or closely related field would be an asset.
  • Solid understanding of NB, PEI, NS, and NL OHS regulations, OSHA. 
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent leadership communication, presentation and facilitation skills with experience in training and/or education. 
  • Be able to work closely with all levels of the organization.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, & Power Point)
