Job Title: Fired Heater Integrity Technician

We are currently looking to fill the role of a Fired Heater Reliability Technician to join our Asset Integrity team.

Duties include:

  • Online health monitoring of Fired Equipment
  • Online Infrared Thermography inspections of fired heaters and other refinery equipment
  • Online flue gas sampling of fired heaters
  • Assessing operational data
  • Organization and preliminary analysis of IR Thermography data, flue gas data and other operational parameters
  • Technical report writing
  • Internal and external visual inspections of fired equipment
  • Provide support to Area Teams for fired heater related projects, such as: commissioning of new equipment, shut down and start up support of fired equipment
  • Support group projects and initiatives such as: Fired Heater Tube Metallurgy Project (ensure database is evergreened and accurate). Burner Prevenative Maintenance Program (provide troubleshooting assistance and/or obtain information for maintenance crews)
  • Integrity Operating Windows (field audits of fired heaters to ensure they are operating within set parameters)
  • Turnaround Inspection Support (internal and external inspections of fired equipment)


  • Post secondary degree/diploma in a technical field. Ideal candidate is a Mechanical Engineering Technologist.
  •  Level 1 or higher IR Thermography certification is considered an asset
  • Experience with combustion equipment is considered an asset
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work indivually to complete tasks when required
  • Ability to work with a team on a regular basis to achieve group metrics
  • Ability to communicate effectively with wide variety of groups including inspection team, maintenance crews, foremen, coordinator, planners, operations, and various management teams
  • Must have a keen attention to detail
  • Must be competent using MS Office programs such as Word and Excel
  • Understanding of and experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems is considered an asset
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces, work at heights and climb ladders and stairs
  • Will be required to work in all weather conditions. May be required to work non standard hours of work at times.
