Job Title: Area Inspection Lead

We are currently looking to fill the role of a Area Inspection Lead to join our Asset Integrity team.

Duties include:

  • Supervises, manages, mentors directs and reviews work of junior/senior inspectors and contractors (NDE, Inspection, Chemical)
  • Responsible for materials selection for refinery equipment and corrosion control.
  • Contributor to Maintenance, Capital turnaround planning and budgets.
  • Carries out complex assessment analysis of remaining life of refinery equipment as defined by API/ASME codes and standards.
  • Evaluates, predicts and schedules replacement of refinery equipment.
  • Acts as Asset Integrity Liason with the Area(PMT) team.
  • Performs audits of vendors and fabricators to ensure compliance with refinery and industry codes, standards and specifications for projects and capital projects.
  • Audits internal asset integrity programs and provides recommendations and to close NCRs.
  • Has authority to act on the company behalf regarding code, regulatory and specification non conformances.
  • Responsible for Irving approval of vendor, fabricator or maintenance repair company welding procedures and welder qualification.
  • Develops repair procedures for pressure equipment.
  • Develops and maintains KPIs, inspection recommendations, IOW's and databases for area of responsibility
  • Develops annual scopes of work and budget for area inspection activities and compliance items
  • Participates in contract reviews and negotiations regarding NDE, inspection, corrosion control contracts
  • Develops, coordinates and facilitates testing and testing programs for inspector levels
  • Responsible for performance management, training and succession planning for area asset integrity members
  • Develops, maintains, reviews internal manuals, specifications, processes and procedures as asset integrity Subject Matter Experts
  • Ensures compliance to industry and internal specifications with regard to repair, fabrication, or pressure retaining components
  • Focal point for all inspection, materials, corrosion, IOW's for area of responsibility
  • Presents stewardship/quarterly review items to senior management
  • Participates in industry conferences and develops external networks and reports back to the organization



  • 10 -20 years experience in industry
  • Typically has post secondary education with other industry related certifications
  • API 510 certification required. Has extensive experience and certification in some or all of the following: CWB, Thermography, API, CGSB, National Board, Nace etc.
  • Has strong conceptual, analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Demonstrated skills in planning, documentation, and time management
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and innovation and can go beyond immediate assignments and act on opportunities
  • At times will be required to work in confined spaces and high elevation climbing, periodically.
  • Will be required to work in all weather conditions
  • Must demonstrate safety leadership. 24/7
