Job Title: Fleet Account Manager

Founded in 1924, Irving Oil is a privately owned regional refining and marketing company with a history of long term relationships. This Outside Sales position is responsible for the long term relationships and growth of approximately 150-200 large transportation company accounts that purchases diesel products and services at our Irving 24 cardlock locations. Responsibilities include negotiating in large stakes sales situations with multiple variables, and developing account strategies with the use of sales tools. This position reports to and receives direction from the Sales Manager.

Responsibilities include:

  • Management of large transportation company accounts to ensure long term growth and retention of profitable accounts. • Prospect for new sales in strategic areas with the use of various sales tools to increase opportunities of improving sales revenues.
  • Develop account strategies and plan, identify high quality prospects, assess customer business needs, and propose solutions.
  • Negotiate in complex, large stakes, sales situations with multiple variables.
  • Recognize and shape profitable deals, collaborate with field employees and internal resources to create value for customers.
  • Know how products link to strategy and broaden account relationship and knowledge.
  • Apply financial, marketing and strategic concepts to sales cycle.
  • Manage and report on progress of new accounts, margin management opportunities and overall performance of portfolio.
Requirements:
  • Post secondary education is required.
  • Minimum 4 years Sales or Marketing experience.
  • Knowledge of negotiation techniques, commercial customer base and fleet offerings.
  • In depth knowledge of energy industry. Basic knowledge of economics and business basics for detailed analysis of customer needs.
  • Possess strong communication and consultative selling skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to develop interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and to stay current with evolving energy information/technology.
  • Must enjoy working with the public, courteous and tactful when dealing with difficult situations. Must be customer focused and a team player willing to collaborate with supporting departments to ensure alignment with company overall goals.
  • Must be proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Acquainted with Sales Methodology Tools such as Miller - Heiman.
  • Preferred Background in dealing with transportation and commercial accounts preferred.
  • Preferably bilingual.
  • Flexibility and commitment required for extensive travel.
