The Research and Insights Manager is a critical member of Irving’s Marketing Department.  The Research and Insights Manager will lead the development, planning and execution of all aspects of the market research process for the various marketing business units including retail fuels, fleet, home heating fuels and lubricants. This position contributes to Irving's success by assisting with the strategic direction of our branded businesses by evaluating the current performance of the Irving brand, customer experience, marketing programs, and communications.  The role also leads in the development of research methodologies to understand customer segments, market opportunities and trends.

This person will successfully synthesize marketing analytics, customer insights, and competitive intelligence and communicate it in such a way to provide the business with the information it needs to develop and deliver a differentiated customer experience in our regional market. Also required of the role is the application of well-honed skills in vendor management, research analysis and reporting and project management and effective communication across all levels of an organization.  

        Responsible to lead the development and execution of all aspects of the market research process

        Translate market research strategies into detailed data specifications required for research analysis

        Prepare and communicate detailed project work back schedules and task accountabilities

        Coordinate, analyze and present market research data for strategic insights and recommendations

        Prepare clear presentations and actionable summaries back to the business

        Provide direction in the use of the most effective and innovative market research analytical techniques in order to identify emerging consumer needs and behaviour trends and define/refine key segment targets

·         Lead the communication and dissemination of research findings and trends in consumer attitude and behaviour throughout the business

·         Work with the Marketing Director to manage a significant research budget

  • Maintain relationship management of existing and new key 3rd party research partners
  • Direct leadership and management of the Marketing Performance Analyst
  • Maintain, enhance, and communicate customer segmentation to ensure current and future programs are built to attract our target segments 
  • Facilitate brand performance measurement and positioning tracking that highlights current trends and future opportunities
  • Manage existing customer satisfaction measurement streams and work with the director to expand scope to additional customer channels
  • Manage and communicate consumer and industry trends to Innovation, Marketing managers and Operations
  • Collaborate with Innovation Manager on concept screening, testing, and optimization of new products and programs
  • Manage the collection and communication of competitive intelligence through collaboration with Marketing managers, Operations, and Finance
  • Conduct market analysis that includes but is not limited to gasoline and diesel volume performance and trends, store volumes and transaction performance and trends, and other key macro and micro offer elements
Participate in the establishment and measurement of business unit KPIs

Requirements:
  • BS or MBA, Entrepreneurial Management, Marketing or Marketing Research with extensive credentials as well as strategic planning expertise.
  • Minimum 5+ years relevant direct consumer retail marketing experience

    ·         Demonstrated leadership experience and results managing high visibility projects – from initiation on through to launch
