NATURE OF WORK: This work involves the safe, efficient operation of light single axle trucks and farm type tractors and related automotive and construction equipment. In addition to equipment operation, incumbents are required to perform manual labor. Job assignments are given in detail or follow established routines and are reviewed by an assigned supervisor. There may be occasions when an incumbent in this class is assigned lead worker duties.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES: Knowledge of minor maintenance needed to repair and maintain assigned equipment. Knowledge of traffic laws and regulations governing equipment operation. Knowledge of park maintenance techniques such as baseball infield preparation, landscaping, and reseeding. Ability to operate various types of single axle trucks, related construction equipment, and basic hand tools. Ability to compile reports of work completed. Ability to learn the geography of the city. Ability to understand written or oral instructions. Ability to balance, bend, stoop, and stand from 76 to 100% of the time and climb, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, walk, push, and pull objects from 51 to 75% of the time. Ability to move and transport objects such as tree limbs, pieces of concrete and asphalt, bags of fertilizer, tools and equipment, manhole covers, snow plow blades, sections of fencing material, and debris from abandoned private properties weighing up to ninety (90) pounds up to 33% of the time; objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds from 34 to 66 % of the time; and objects weighing up to twenty (20) pounds from 67 to 100% of the time.
